Somatic Meditation
A practice of coming home to your body … safely, gently, and honestly.
Somatic meditation is a body-led practice to help you reconnect with sensation, breath and the present moment, without pushing, forcing or straining. It bypasses the thinking mind and meets you where you are.
When life is busy or emotionally intense, many of us live from the neck up. Somatic meditation brings the awareness back to the body, where stress and tension often show up first. Over time, that awareness will support a calmer nervous system, help create natural boundaries, and a steadier relationship with yourself.

Why it works
In times of stress, anxiety and trauma, etc., the body is often neglected in favour of the mind when it comes to healing.
But somatic meditation reminds us of its importance: Guiding you to notice what is happening as it’s happening, and to respond, not with old habits and patterns, but with choice. This is what presence is.
Clients often report:
- feeling more grounded and present
- less reactivity and worry
- better sleep and emotional steadiness
- a greater sense of inner being and clarity
- improved connection to themselves and others
What to expect in a session
Somatic meditation isn’t about “emptying your mind.” It’s about feeling the sensation, breath, and opening up to receive the support of the ground, and the subtle signals of your whole body and being.
Sessions may include:
- guided awareness (a subtle felt sense under the noise within)
- breath and contact points (feet, seat, spine)
- curious and gentle inquiry (without analysing)
- short practices you can use in everyday life (eyes open, eyes closed and not just on a meditation cushion
Who it’s for
Somatic meditation can be especially supportive if you:
- feel stressed, anxious, disconnected or “on edge”
- struggle to switch off
- feel stuck in recurring emotional patterns
- sense that your body is holding more than your mind can manage
- when you’ve done enough talking
