Somatic Experiencing
Somatic Experiencing® (SE) is a gentle, body-based approach to healing that focuses on releasing stress and trauma held within the nervous system. Developed by Dr. Peter Levine, SE helps people restore balance by working with physical sensations rather than solely relying on talking about past experiences.
When we go through overwhelming events, our bodies can sometimes stay “stuck” in survival mode, leading to symptoms such as anxiety, tension, sleep difficulties, or feeling disconnected. Somatic Experiencing offers a safe way to gradually shift out of these patterns, helping the body complete its natural stress response and return to a state of regulation.
Sessions are client-led and unfold at a pace that feels right for you.

Somatic Experiencing can support people with a wide range of challenges, including:
- Stress, anxiety, and burnout
- The after-effects of accidents, surgeries, or injuries
- Emotional or developmental trauma
- Feeling “on edge” or disconnected from the body

Rather than revisiting traumatic memories in detail, SE gently brings awareness to bodily sensations, images, and movements. By noticing and allowing these subtle shifts, your system can release stored energy and find new resilience. Many clients describe a greater sense of calm, connection, and stability after working with SE.
Each person’s journey is unique, and SE honours your individual pace and needs. It is not about forcing change but about creating space for your nervous system to find safety and regulation.
If you’re curious about whether Somatic Experiencing could support you, I’d be glad to talk through any questions and explore how it might help in your life.
I offer a calm and supportive space where you can feel safe to explore at your own pace. My role is to gently guide and accompany you as your body begins to release tension and rediscover a natural sense of ease and balance.
